I weigh about 130lbs and I am 5′4". I am an intermediate wakeboarder that wants to start learning tricks and wants to go BIG.What is the best wakeboard and bindings for me.
Hyperlite Marek or Premier. I would get either the Murry Binding or the Marek. If you don’t mind getting 2008 binding get the Atlas Binding, there great!!!

I got my new wakeboard today and while i was trying to do w2w jumps i simply couldn’t clear the wake the closest i got was practically landing on top of the opposite wake. i start out wide, ride flat, then use a progressive edge like i have read and allow the boat to pretty much slingshot me i even started popping off the wake when i got more comfortable but still couldn’t clear it. Could it be my boat doesn’t produce a large enough wake? its an 87 vip viscount with an inboard 4 cylinder no Wakeboard Tower any advice is appreciated!
3 things come to mind- speed of your cut, handle position and angle
progressive edge starts slow and slowly builds speed. If you feel sling shotted i bet you’re starting the edge in too fast. most ppl think they are standing tall when in reality they are not or are just stiffening their legs with a bend in them. that will kill pop. when you are pulling out stall your movement for a sec then put your board on edge and start to cut back in. slowly build up speed. When you get to the wake straighten your legs out by standing very tall. your handle should be in front of your front hip… pretend you are going to stuff the handle into your back pocket. If your handle is more at shoulder height you got nothing to keep your line tension built up. many beginner riders look at the wake like it should be hit at a 90 degree angle. not true. that will give you a faster jump but not a higher one. you want to hit it at more of a 45 degree angle…. it sounds weird but give all of this a try. also check out this link to help.scroll down to the 4th video on the page. my buddy was at the same place you are.. casing the wake. it can be painful. after he watched this he cleared on his 2nd try.
