Would a 1988 16′ Chaparral 162 Bowrider 1992 60hp Mariner ss prop be good for wakeboarding/sking?

I am new to boating I dont know a whole lot but im thinking about buying a 1988 16′ Chaparral 162 Bowrider 1992 with 60hp Mariner ss prop he says he using it for sking and has all ski accessories but would that motor be good enough to pull or get up on a wakeboard or ski it is an outboard ofcourse.

If the former owner says he has used it to pull skiers you need to take him at his word. I’ve pulled skiers behind a 16′ boat with a 40HP engine. If you can pull a skier up with the boat then it’s much easier to pull a wake boarder because they’re already afloat when you start pulling. The fact that it is an outboard is a big advantage. You can always upgrade and replace the motor. If you were buying a 1988 boat with an I/O then you’d have to be careful because if anything goes wrong with the engine or outdrive you’d have to repair it on the boat, and a lot of those older engines no longer have parts available.

Is a wakeboard tower better for skiing?

Ditto, it does make getting up easier. But if you are talking about slalom skiing, it is not better. You want the rope lower so the wake won’t throw you off balance while performing you cuts. It its trick ski’s you are talking about, yes tower is better cause you will get more hang time off the wake using a tower.

Alternatives to a Wakeboard Tower?

I wakeboard alot! I’m looking to buy a wakeboard tower…but it cost 7,000$ to get one installed. I was wondering if there were any alternatives to a Wakeboard Tower? ( Something that does the same thing, but will fit all boats).

This is the brand that I love the most. I have a tower now but back when the money was funny I used A Skylon. Here is the link- http://www.skylonsports.com/products/boomspoles.php
