Would a 1988 16′ Chaparral 162 Bowrider 1992 60hp Mariner ss prop be good for wakeboarding/sking?

I am new to boating I dont know a whole lot but im thinking about buying a 1988 16′ Chaparral 162 Bowrider 1992 with 60hp Mariner ss prop he says he using it for sking and has all ski accessories but would that motor be good enough to pull or get up on a wakeboard or ski it is an outboard ofcourse.

If the former owner says he has used it to pull skiers you need to take him at his word. I’ve pulled skiers behind a 16′ boat with a 40HP engine. If you can pull a skier up with the boat then it’s much easier to pull a wake boarder because they’re already afloat when you start pulling. The fact that it is an outboard is a big advantage. You can always upgrade and replace the motor. If you were buying a 1988 boat with an I/O then you’d have to be careful because if anything goes wrong with the engine or outdrive you’d have to repair it on the boat, and a lot of those older engines no longer have parts available.
